Welcome Baskets for Families of Newborns with Special Needs

The day you learn your child has a unique need may be one of the most difficult days of your life but it doesn't have to be. Especially Needed and parents that have been where you are want to help. We want to offer you support and carry some of that load because we know, one day, your heart will be at peace with this news and then you can enjoy your time with your new bundle of joy.

We want to provide a welcome gift to the families while they are still in the hopsital and we would like to include items that are helpful to the development of a baby with Down Syndrome or any special need, as well as items that are great for any new parent. We have contacted several companies but we need donations and sponsors for this to work. We would graciously accept any donations for gift certificates to food places, baby items, therapy items, etc. Thanks so much for your help in making sure that every family feel their baby is welcomed and loved.

Welcome Baskets Coordinator - Kelli Koch

Kelli is a local McKinney mom who has been gracious enough to head up this initiative. Since her son, Carson's diagnosis of Down syndrome was given to her and her husband at 15 weeks pregnant, she vowed to work hard to never have anyone feel that alone again. We want to place baskets in the hospitals for the families who have just been blessed with a baby who happens to have Down syndrome. The goals is welcome the baby and let the family know they are not alone, offer them resources and contacts. We are blessed to have Kelli on our team!
